About Us
We are committed to transforming lives through compassion, support, and empowerment. Rooted in Christian values, we strive to create a society where everyone can thrive and contribute meaningfully to their community.
Our Vision and Mission
To create a society where every individual, regardless of their background, has access to the resources and support needed to thrive and contribute meaningfully to their community.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to empower individuals, particularly women and their children from the BAME community, who have experienced discrimination, abandonment, and neglect. We are dedicated to supporting those impacted by domestic violence, abuse, homelessness, addiction, and imprisonment. Our goal is to offer a safe haven and comprehensive support, enabling these individuals to become independent and contributing members of society. We believe that women can still thrive and achieve their full potential even after experiencing abuse.
Our Values
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
Matthew 25:35-36 (NIV)
Compassion
We show kindness and empathy to every individual we serve, reflecting the love and compassion of Christ
Dignity
We uphold the inherent worth and dignity of every person, ensuring they are treated with respect and honor.
Equity
To provide equal access to resources and opportunities, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, can achieve their full potential
Our Story
Our History
Our story began in October 1999 when Reverend Stella King founded the Ark of Hope Foundation in Finchley, London. Growing up, Stella faced significant challenges, including discrimination, abandonment, and domestic violence. As a migrant, she struggled to adjust to a new culture, often finding it difficult to access culturally competent food. These experiences fueled her passion for helping others in similar situations.
Having overcome abandonment, shame, and abuse, Stella has dedicated her life to empowering those who are broken and despondent, guiding them toward wholeness. Her personal journey from hardship to empowerment informs her compassionate approach to aiding others. Stella has participated in numerous conferences and seminars, leading congregations in prayer, ministering to women, and speaking on topics such as rejection and abandonment. Her lived experience and dedication to her mission have made a profound impact on the lives of many.
Our Founder
Reverend Stella King, an ordained Christian minister, founded the Ark of Hope Foundation with a heart for people and a desire to see those who are broken down and despondent made whole. Having grown up facing significant challenges, including discrimination and abandonment, she had to battle through a period of her life with no formal education. The skill of reading and writing is one that we often take for granted; how daunting the world can become when your level of communication is limited to the spoken word.
Stella’s story is one that can be echoed through the lives of many. As a victim of domestic violence and abuse, her life experiences mirror those of many individuals she now helps. Her experiences have led to a deep desire to help people who find themselves in challenging positions of discrimination, abandonment, and abuse. Stella is dedicated to ensuring the advancement and development of the individual spirit, soul, and body. Her commitment to empowering those who are broken and despondent has been unwavering. Through her work at the Ark of Hope Foundation, Stella has made a profound impact on many lives, offering a beacon of hope and a path to wholeness for those in need.
